Our Mission
To empower nurses by providing them knowledge to update their skills to impart value based nursing education with a view to providing holistic health care .
Our Vision
To improve standards of education, research, getting autonomy, providing quality care, to demanding patient’s ethical and legal issues, technological advancement, leadership & decision making.
Sympathy is the greatest medicine for all the diseases found in the world. The sympathetic attitude and compassionate behavior of Nurses goes a long way to ameliorate the pain and suffering of patients. The patients and their families have great expectations from Nurses and they have to fulfill the great responsibility that has been entrusted upon them. Along with the spirit of serving, Nurses have to keep themselves abreast with new research and technological advances.
The complete health care infra-structure, organization and training, needs transformation for meeting the objective of health for all as laid down by W.H.O. Disease care is to be replaced by Primary Health Care which is substantially economical too. A practical example of this change is North Central Bronx Hospital which established a neighborhood Family Care Centre in 1973. The objective was to treat families rather than diseases. For patients suffering from psychological problems the value of family therapy is well accepted.
Late Dr. Michel Balient, an internationally renowned psychoanalyst, described the value of doctor’s possibility in his book, “The Doctor, his Patient and the Illness” in the following words -‘By far the most frequently used medicine in medical practice was the Nurse herself. It was not only the medicine but the way the Nurses gave them to the patients. In fact, the whole atmosphere in which the drug was given and taken.
Cure and care of patients have to go hand in hand. Treating the human being rather than just a body is the basis of providing Holistic and quality Health Care. By virtue of its humanistic nature, nursing profession is distinguished by values such as compassion, sympathy, patience, courage and humility. Nurses are pillars of strength, hope and affection for the suffering patients, who turn to them for solace. Up-to-date knowledge and specialized training combined with kindness and empathy are the hallmarks of quality nursing care
People today are suffering more due to sickness of mind; hence, the role of Nurses assumes great importance as they can bring success to patients with sweet behavior and constant care. This service rendered by nurses is invaluable and unparalleled.
Modern nursing is a dynamic, therapeutic and educative process in meeting the health needs of the individual, the family and the community. Nursing is one of the health care agencies in assisting families and communities to achieve and maintain desirable standards of health.
We believe in the concept of Health that is laid down by the World Health Organization (W.H.O) i.e. “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of the disease or infirmity”.
Since nurses provide and will undoubtedly continue to provide a large part of health care, their training would equip them with professional expertise to meet the changing demands of society and their expanding role therein. To achieve this, emphasis must be laid on imparting the knowledge and the skills most relevant to the health care needs of the community and the country, as a whole. This must also be accompanied by a corresponding change in professional attitudes. The International Council of Nurses states that the unique function of the Nurse is to assist the individual, sick or well, in the performance of those activities, contributing to health or its recovery or to peaceful death, that he would perform, unaided if he had necessary strength, will or knowledge and to do this, in such a way, as to help him gain independence as rapidly as possible.
The Trust has realized that basic nursing education is a formally recognized program of study, providing a sound foundation in the behavioral, life and nursing sciences, for the post basic education in specialties for advance nursing practice. The Trust believes that this Post Basic B. Sc nursing course should prepare nurses for occupying leadership position in nursing field, that is in service, administrative or education side. The Trust recognizes that nursing is a profession which is influenced by the advances in sciences and technology. It believes that skills in all aspects of communication are also essential for learning and for practice of nursing.
The Trust also recognizes that the nature of nursing is such that a substantial portion of learning of the student is acquired in the clinical fields of practice. It further recognizes interdependence with allied professions and occupations in promoting, maintaining, restoring health and prevention of diseases. The Trust believes that it has the responsibility in helping the student develop pride in their profession besides keeping them abreast with current knowledge and professional trends, for a successful career ahead.
The present status of globalization in the field of medicine has opened up new doors and opportunities for the nursing services. The requirement of qualified and equipped nurses are a dive necessity. These professional are great demand in India and abroad. This institute with all its infrastructure and well experienced teaching staff has an urgent need start a school of nursing to prepare nurses for the betterment of mankind.
